“Should teachers be able to lie to parents?”

Monterey Herald — submitted Feb. 23, 2024, not published

Apparently, it is now legal for Californian teachers to lie to the parents of the children they teach. This seems understandable. The government almost always lies to its citizenry, day and night. So, why wouldn’t government teachers lie like the devil or act as dumb as a box of hammers?

Of course, this legal lying by Californian teachers is somewhat limited. For instance, government schools still demand parental approval for giving children aspirin. But in this special case, the teachers must lie if the aspirin deals with possible gender issues, drugs, and surgery. And why not? Doesn’t the government own all of us, young and old?

Don’t you just love California, the land of authoritarian craziness?
