School boards

“School boards”, Monterey Herald – Nov. 15, 2023

I found the commentary by Joe Mathews “Kids, take over school boards” in the Nov. 10 edition of the Herald very disturbing.  He is basically suggesting the “inmates run the asylum.”  I am not comparing students to inmates but merely using that as an example of a similar action.  Parents, not educators, are supposed to raise their children.  Parents have every right to know what their children are up to and what they are taught in the schools.  School boards that are elected by the public, which includes parents, make decisions on curriculum as well as other issues necessary for operating a school district.  Teachers are part of the public and have every right to interact with the school board, but they do not have the right to usurp parenting, which includes keeping information from parents.  The students can also attend board meetings.  However, that brings up a different set of problems as people have forgotten how to be civil and those meetings run amok.  There have been examples of that in our own communities recently.

Joe Mathews obviously believes there are more than two sexes, which is about as sick as you can get.  God created two sexes, male and female.  Teaching the muti-sex diatribe to our kids is nothing short of criminal and parents have every right to have their kids removed from such an environment.  Letting kids take over their own education would be the biggest mistake ever.
