Two-tiered system of justice

“Two-tiered system of justice”, Monterey Herald – Sent in on June 27, 2023, never published.

Most citizens of America have always been proud of our belief that justice should be blind and impartial. We believed that nobody should be above the law. Unfortunately, that is changing.

We now have an autocracy that protects its royalty, a two-tiered system of justice: one for the politically powerful, and another one for the public.

Case in point. Hunter Biden is constantly getting preferential treatment. His laptop has been in the hands of the FBI since at least 2019, resulting recently in some minor charges. Besides receiving millions from foreign entities without paying taxes, Hunter lied on his gun registration forms, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison.

But Hunter’s crime was downgraded to a misdemeanor. Prominent rapper Kodak Black got over 3 years for the same crime, but Hunter will spend no time in jail. I thought Democrats favored stricter gun laws! With his felony changed to a misdemeanor, Hunter can now buy armloads of guns.

Apparently, we live in a society where justice is reserved for the rich, the irresponsible, and the powerful. The peasantry need not apply.
