It’s obvious the Monterey County counsel took advantage of the Serra statue removal for alleged safekeeping as an excuse to not return it to its proper resting place, where it has stood for a century.

In the county government’s further attempt to cancel California-American culture, anything remotely resembling a religious symbol must be removed and destroyed — especially a statue of a saint like Serra, who obviously, according to credible county history revisionists, was a slave-driving white supremacist who ate native Californian babies as appetizers before feasting on fried sea otter on Cannery Row.
