“Jeffrey Epstein lives on”

Letters of Liberty, Nov. 30, 2025

Here we go again. Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019, but his ghost lives on. We have already had two federal investigations, which were conclusive. Now, 60,000 pages of the Jeffrey Epstein file have been released. The sensational plot thickens. The net gets wider—a British royalty, a former president, a current president, a congressperson, a Harvard professor. Based on what? Phone calls made 18 years ago, an email, a birthday card, a photograph, tragically, a young woman wrote a letter and committed suicide. That’s enough to prove you are a pedophile. How much in the Epstein files is hard evidence, and how much is circumstantial? Careers will be destroyed sometimes on the basis of thin and anecdotal evidence. Reminds me of the era of ME TOO, when a woman could make an accusation, and the defendant had no recourse in the way of due process.  Also reminds me of the McCarthy era. You were a Communist if you read certain books, associated with certain people, were a part of a particular profession, or political party. This is called guilt by association. It may play well on social media, but it has real consequences for innocent people.
