I co-authored a scientific article last month in a peer-reviewed journal analyzing the likely cause of New England’s unprecedented whale deaths, and linking the causation to offshore wind turbines. This week we have new information on numerous dolphin deaths in the same locations. There should be a much wider national dialog on this critical matter. We know that cetaceans are very reliant on their acoustic underwater communications for both navigation (sonar) and inter-animal communications; these functions are life-dependent, and not discretionary. Let us carefully analyze these risks to our Monterey Bay cetaceans, before we accept massive ocean wind farms in Monterey Bay.
