California reparations a bad idea

“California reparations a bad idea,” Monterey Herald – March 26, 2023

California was admitted to the union as a free state. Most of the people in the state who will have to foot the bill for reparations probably do not have ancestors who owned slaves. Likewise, those who are registered Republicans should be exempt, because the party was founded in 1856 to fight slavery. If this bad idea moves forward, the Democratic Party, the party of slavery, should pay to make up for the system they supported.
