“Switch to all-electric power?” Monterey Herald – March 15, 2023
Recently I was sitting on my couch sipping tea in the dark using my flashlight to read in the paper about how Governor Newsom wants us to give up our gas appliances and go “all electric.” Our electricity was off for three days (this time). I was able to have hot tea because we have a GAS-powered stove. I was able to have hot meals because we have a GAS-powered stove. I was able to have hot showers because we have a GAS-powered water heater. I was able to charge up my cell phone while driving around in my GAS-powered car. I was able to refill my tank with gas because there was one gas station open for business at the mouth of Carmel Valley using a GAS-powered generator. With recurring electric power outages at all times of the year in California, I don’t believe it is a good idea for the government to try to phase out gas power at this time.
