Deaths by Omicron at 115

“Deaths by Omicron at 115”, Monterey Herald, unpublished, submitted January 23, 2022

There is a lot of fear arising from the Omicron variant. The daily number of Omicron infections reached all-time highs. Hospitals are overflowing with patients at unheard-of levels. But what is not being reported is the number of deaths from Omicron, which was counted for Covid-19 in the past.

Finally, the Economic Times from India reported on Jan. 12 that a “total of 115 people died across the world due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19,” with one death in India.  Why all the hysteria over a highly contagious variant that kills very few people?  South Africa still has not posted its death count since Omicron was first detected in November 2021. Maybe they have none.

Perhaps this is why England has recently moved to end many Covid-19 restrictions, including mandatory face masks, mandatory Covid-19 passports, travel limits, and other restrictions. Ireland is following in the same direction.

I assume their leaders figured out that since almost nobody is dying from Omicron, why lockdown everything and everyone.
