Opposed to a mask mandate

“Opposed to a mask mandate”, Monterey Herald—Sept. 15, 2021

It’s still a mystery to me as to why Wendy Askew would introduce the first county mask mandate passed in California without the support of the health officer. Throughout the pandemic, our infection numbers have been below the state average.  Masks have been shown to reduce the learning abilities of children in schools because of reduced oxygen absorption. Political game points must be involved since Gavin Newsom said he doesn’t deserve to be recalled because he gets credit for preventing the increase of coronavirus statewide.   I can only thank supervisors Chris Lopez and John Phillips for being the adults in the room with the commonsense to vote no.
