Water supply

“Water supply,” Monterey Herald – Nov. 2, 2022

The uncertainty of a reliable water source directly threatens job stability and our local economy. As we approach three years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Monterey Peninsula – a community that depends on the local economy and tourism to keep afloat – is just now recovering from the devastating effects that years of uncertainty have had on the industry. The Monterey Peninsula Water Resource Project (MPWRP), which will bring a reliable water source to the Peninsula that we so desperately need, will also provide hundreds of good-paying jobs. In addition to construction jobs during the renovation, the project will then employ hundreds to operate and maintain the facility, which supports our local workers and their families in a time when we need some certainty.

Stay well and stay connected,

— Jenny MacMurdo, president & CEO of Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce
