Our Strategic Petroleum Reserve is meant for use in national catastrophes, not for tweaking the retail price of gas. Biden is drawing down these critical reserves clearly to buy votes in the mid-term elections. When he last invoked this use in 2021, the price of gasoline kept climbing. Thus, the price of gas is unlikely to be noticeably affected by this cowardly effort to buy votes. But it is certain that this precious reserve will be decimated in the event we really need it.
