On wrong side of history

“On wrong side of history”, Monterey Herald – January 8, 2022

It is hard to believe that anybody would oppose a Chinese love story, considering the push for more diversity. Most Americans welcome all types of tales and fables from other lands. The Feast of Lanterns is one such festival that celebrates the Chinese culture, language, festivals, and traditions.

If the Feast of Lanterns is banned or canceled, what will history say about the city of Pacific Grove and its citizens?  Historians could easily argue that PG residents were openly opposed to Chinese people and their traditions. At least for me, that sounds rather anti-Asian and racist.

We need to fight against the current surge of attacks on Asians, and instead, celebrate their cultural contributions to America.
