Cancel ‘cancel culture’

Cancel ‘cancel culture’ – Monterey Herald, April 7, 2021

It’s time to cancel ‘cancel culture’ before cancel culture cancels our culture.  Baseball, America’s favorite pastime, is an integral part of our culture.  Spending a day at the ballpark is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.  Fans don’t want to be distracted by politics.  So for Major League Baseball to cancel this year’s All-Star game in Atlanta because they oppose the recent Voter Integrity/Voter ID law in Georgia is uncalled for.  This law, signed by the governor, was approved by legislators voted in by the citizens of their state.  MLB is trying to override the will of the people.  It’s not only Democrats who enjoy and support baseball.  In 1990 Michael Jordan declined to support a Democratic candidate and famously answered “Republicans buy sneakers too.”  Well, Republicans don’t need to keep buying this woke nonsense.  It’s time to cancel the cancel culture.  I’m taking a break from baseball this year and will avoid the goods and services of companies such as Coca-Cola and Delta which have also denounced this legislation.  I encourage other free thinkers to join in. Together we can stand up to these bullies.
